Increase Reach with Facebook

Dear Team: How to Reach Maximum Exposure with your Posts

Hello all! Being admin of the group, I have seen thousands of advertisements pass by.

Some people think that post exposure is based purely on luck. While there is some ‘luck’ involved with Facebook’s algorithm, there is a clear pattern that shows which posts generally do well, and which posts do not.

I have written a small guide on some things you can do to create a nice and readable advertisement, along with some tips on reaching the most exposure with your posts.

**See the images below which I attached for visual explanations.

Writing + Structure ✍️

  • Travelers love local guides such as yourself. Especially in Facebook groups. They love a personal connection – so a short introduction of you as a local guide is great.
  • Try to make the post clear and readable. Use paragraphs and structure. See images for examples.
  • Try to give the client a sense of what they can expect. Is it a full day tour? Where will you go?
  • Be specific. Maybe include an itinerary of the stops during the tour. You could include a heading called “highlights” or “what will we do?”.
  • Include useful information for the clients – for example; do you do hotel pick up? Do you offer the tour in different languages? Etc.
  • Have a clear Call to Action at the end. Invite them to book and mention how you want to be contacted. Via FB? Phone? Email? etc. It helps to be specific.

Photos 📸

  • Photos, along with well structured text is probably the most important thing to focus on.
  • Think about it like this; people on Facebook are scrolling. What catches their eye and makes them stop scrolling? Answer: Beautiful photos of the destination they are going to visit.
  • The more people you can ‘catch’ like this, the stronger the signal towards Facebook is that people find this post interesting. This results in Facebook ‘pushing’ this post towards more people.
  • If you have their permission, include photos of earlier clients in your photos. Preferably smiling. By presenting photos with real clients of your tour – the new traveler can imagine himself on your tour.
  • The best photos are with smiling customers – this makes a huge difference.
  • Include photos of the wonderful locations/architecture/food that they will experience during your tour.
  • 4-8 photos is a good number.

Links in your post 🔗 We would not recommend placing links in your post. We personally don’t mind it, but it appears that Facebook limits the exposure of posts that contain links; most likely because they want to keep people on Facebook.

Videos: We do not recommending placing a video in your group post. We rarely see posts with videos perform well in Facebook Groups.

‘Flyers as an image’ 📄

We often saw advertisements that add an image of a flyer. Often times this flyer would be very ‘crowded’, with too much info placed into a small area. It is hard to read and these posts generally did not get much exposure, because people just scroll past them; which signals to Facebook that they should not show such a post to many people. See the ‘bad advert’ example to see what I mean.

Experiment 🧪

These tips are just general guidelines based on analyzing many posts. We are not saying; do this or do that 😊. So, experiment and see what works for you!
